Jason Kwok |
Jason Kwok was previously Citibank's North Asia Chief Economist before he was appointed as Director of Corporate Planning & Advisory - a position he held until June 2003 when he left the bank to set up TeamOne. During his ten years at Citibank, Mr. Kwok reported directly to the CEO of Hong Kong and sat on the bank's management committee, overseeing economic research and business planning. He also worked closely for Citigroup's CEO for Asia as a senior adviser on the Greater China market advising on issues related to risk management. Before joining Citibank, Mr. Kwok had held senior positions in a number of other major banking institutions in Hong Kong. He was Economic Adviser for the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation between 1991 and 1993, and prior to that, Senior Economist and Head of Economic Research for the Bank of East Asia where he reported directly to the Chief Executive. Mr. Kwok is a regular speaker on economic issues in international business forums, such as the Economist Conference and EuroFinance Conference of the Economist Group, etc. His views are also much sought after by government bodies outside Hong Kong, including among others, the Ministry of Finance and State Administration of Foreign Exchange of the Mainland, as well as the State Department and Federal Reserve Board of the United States. In his twenty years of career as an economist, Mr. Kwok had written extensively on economic issues not only about Hong Kong but also the Asia region, particularly the Mainland. At Citibank, he was the main author of a number of the bank's Hong Kong and Mainland research publications, including the widely circulated quarterly report "Citibank China Monitor". His work can also be found in business publications of renowned international publishers such as AsiaMoney and the Standard & Poor's. In the early part of his career, he was also a regular contributor of economic articles to leading local business newspapers in Hong Kong including the South China Morning Post. Outside of work, Mr. Kwok is also active in public service both in Hong Kong and China. He was a part-time adviser of the Hong Kong SAR Government's Central Policy Unit (CPU) between 1999 and 2001. The CPU is a "think tank" advising the SAR Chief Executive, the Chief Secretary for Administration and the Financial Secretary. He also served as a member of the Hong Kong Committee for Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation, and was an honorable adviser of the Local Committee of international youth organization AIESEC at University of Hong Kong. Between 2006 and 2010, he served as a member of the China Trade Advisory Committee for the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and is currently a member of the Departmental Advisory Committee for the Department of Economics and Finance of City University of Hong Kong. In March 2010, Mr. Kwok was appointed as a Distinguished Research Fellow of the Guangdong Academy of Social Science (GASS). The GASS is a major "think tank" advising the Guangdong Provincial Party Secretary and the Provincial Government. As Founder and Chief Executive of TeamOne, Mr. Kwok is responsible for overseeing the company's operations and the marketing effort. Mr. Kwok graduated from Stanford University in the United States with a Master's degree in Economics. |
