The acquaintance of the two founders dated back to the 1980s when they were both graduate students at Stanford University in the United States studying economics and related subjects. Although the two moved on to very distinct career after school, they shared the same interest in economics and met regularly to exchange views on issues affecting the business community and the society at large. It is in their opinion that Hong Kong needs more objective analysis to help business decision makers understand the complex economic issues in our marketplace, and they came up with the idea of setting up an independent research company to bridge this gap. In the summer of 2003, they saw an opportunity to put this plan into action and founded TeamOne.

TeamOne is not owned by other organization. Neither is it affiliated to any academic institute or professional body. It also has no linkage to any political party or interest group. TeamOne is an independently run, self-funded commercial entity targeted at providing objective and quality economic research to business decision makers.
